If anyone could take the time to lend an ear to my situation, I would be forever grateful…
I am currently living, coped up in my girlfriend’s home with her mom and her mom’s boyfriend, who are both alcoholic and abusive. I’m here for a couple of reasons.
The first is for my Alex’s safety and comfort. Alex is my girlfriend. She’s twenty and has somatization, fibralmyalgia (along with many of the discomforts and problems it’s linked to like migraines, depression, and insomnia), and social anxiety. And yes, she lives with her mother. She has trouble getting up and moving around without the help of specific medications (that ease the pain just enough to do so), making it difficult to look for a job, let alone hold one. Her mother has never given her any help past taking her to ONE doctor to get her diagnosis. Currently she has no insurance whatsoever to be able to get any of her medications, either. Most people tell her that she can just get up and get over it, that she’s being over dramatic, to work through the pain, or that she’s faking everything. Seemingly I’m the only one that can empathize with her. It seems like I’m the only one who cares… That being the case, she takes a lot of comfort in me being here and helping her around the house, being a friend, and not ostracizing her or blaming her for things caused by her conditions…
